Thanks jomoud. My Mom has broken both her hips before, so when she fell she made sure she didn't fall on her hips. Instead, her face & hand took the brunt of it. Her face is fine, but I think she broke a finger which is now healed crooked.

I hope your mother is already healed ...
The falls at this age are very dangerous. My mother also fell two weeks ago and fortunately have not broken anything.

Hi amyplim. Just over a year ago my mom was great & lived on her own. She then broke one hip, recovered fine, six months later broke the other & is now in a nursing home. Even though it's a great home, my mom has aged 10 years in 6 months due to depression etc. of losing her independence. Not how she planned on living her last years!

She is lucky, my mother died last januari after a fall from the bike, at first she seemed alright but after she got problems in her head i dont know how to say it in english.
Where the vains break...She broke her hip too with a bike fall some years ago... its sad

Oh, your poor mom. My 'other half' fell and broke her shoulder, she is on a constant supply of pain pills until the surgeon makes a determination (coming March 31) on whether to operate and install a plate or not...poor thing is unable to do much, however she did make her own webpage during her incapacitation, http://everythingpat.blogspot.com

Thanks for your comments Wildspirit. My Mom is fine now from this injury. When this happened, she was already in a nursing home due to Parkinsons and 2 broken hips last year . My Dad is in another nursing home with late stage Alzheimers. Lots to worry about :-(

Wish your partner the best & tell her my thoughts are with her. It's good she's keeping busy, it may help take her mind off the pain & upcoming surgery.
