Jin Dui (Chinese New Year Series 1/11)

Here is some Jin Dui being deep fried. Jin dui is a pastry that is often found sold on the streets during Chinese New Year. It consists of a rice flour dough ball, filled with lotus paste, coconut, or sweet "black sugar" bean paste, rolled in sesame seeds, and then deep fried to a golden color. It comes out a little crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and a sweet treat in the middle. It is a tasty morsel best eaten while still warm,

They are pretty good. Of course, like most things deep-fried, Jin Dui is never as good eating them cold or reheated the next day.
