Kalalau Valley - Panorama 2
(9/11/08 Koke`e, Kaua`i, Hawai`i, USA)
On the afternoon of September 11, we were done a little early and ended up going for an extra hike to see some amazing rare plants. Along the way there was also magnificent views of Kalalau Valley. Largely undeveloped by modern man, the only viable ways in and out are either on foot or by boat. Many take the 11 mile hike in and out. Others kayak in during the Summer when the waves are small. Camping permits allow people to camp there for 5 days. Of course there people who have illegally camped there for years long over staying their 5 days.
Some day maybe I'll try camping there myself but for now I'm content to see it from this vantage.
