Halfway up Mau`umae trail
At the top of Wilhelmina Rise (mauka of Kaimuki) there is a mountain ridge trail that rises and falls until finally rising to the top of the Ko`olau Mountain range. About halfway up the ridge is a weather-beaten bench that memorializes a hiker who died on the trail. The plaque reminds us to always carry lots of water, a cell phone, hike with a group, and always leave a hiking plan with a contact person and when you expect to be back from your hike.
From here you get a nice view of Palolo Valley, Waikiki, Downtown Honolulu, and Waialae Nui.

This panorama is very large. It may take a while to load up the original size. I may upload a more manageable sized version in the future.
