Here we are.. 1 week later and the chairs have been replaced by keyboard stands.. the lyrics are typed and being learned and we've had our final rehearsal before the gig.. sadly we now have 2 weeks to forget everything as other commitments will keep us from playing. The gig will be chaos. ..super.
Well, the telecaster isn't exactly a Telecaster, it's a beautiful handmade neck with the fattest frets ever on it.. coupled to some "Any old Squire" body with a fancy big tailpiece that takes the same Dimarzio Humbucker I have in the SG's .. so it actually sounds just like an SG! And it's very easy to play.
I did switch to the SG for this rehearsal, but I've gotten so used to to the longer scale of this thing that I switched back.. I feel guilty because the SG's are my trademark, I've only ever done one gig with something else (A Washburn Gibson LP Junior copy) and the first thing somebody said to me after was "Where's the SG?" As it's 20 years since we played I'm afraid that without the SG I'll go unrecognised! ...hmmm.. maybe I should switch back.. argh!!
Always loved you guys' arrangement of Worksong, you still do a good job with it, even one voice light. I hope you enjoy yourselves, at least a little bit. Take a photo of the Reculver towers for me, years since I've been there. Looking forward to the recording, still a slave to my a*se so won't be there.
