I decided not to anguish over it and post this one that hasn't even been posted yet - this is the Eliijah P. Lovejoy Monument in Alton IL, across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. Lovejoy was a strong proponent of abolishing slavery in the 1830's. He owned a newpaper and was killed defending his printing press.
