I really enjoy shooting these airshows, they are a challenge because of the speed and the distance they keep the crowd from the runways. I have seen a lot of pics (most from the UK) where people are allowed to be closer to the flight line. They are so safety conscience (read that as worried about lawsuits.:-) here they only let us get within 1/4 - 1/2 mile - I don't know what people with 3-10x zooms do.

I rented a longer telephoto for this show (and the last 2 MLB Cardinal baseball games) and the difference between my 70-300mm VR, and this 80-400mm VR I rented is huge (450 - 600mm).
