St Louis County Airshow - final year

The world famous Blue Angels - I have seen them perform several times and they never disappoint. They have several different types of formations and maneuvers they fly in their Boeing F/A 18 Hornets. They are actually a recruiting force and goodwill ambassadors for the Navy and the Marines, not the Air Force.

These guys literally flew over me - no more than 250-300' wow!!

You can see what a great vantage point I had about 300' above the runway!!

not easy to follow these guys/girls? ... you did great ... i love the loud "music" they make, but only at the airfield and at shows ... ;-)

thank you maguzz!!!

they're very interesting, when they move that fast you don't hear them until they are right over you or just past you - they are moving so close to the sound of speed that they beat the sound when flying low - fascinating but a real pain to photograph when you have the approach blocked by trees (only downside to my high vantage point was 50% of the airfield made their turns right toward me from behind the trees)

- omg I killed myself trying to get these closer shots - I must have looked like a gunner on a battleship - zooooooooom
