2006 St Louis Airshow (http://www.stlcofair.org/)

I started this series with the most dramatic shot of the show. Now we are getting into the "core" of the show - the planes and jets... and of course the dramatic smoke.

I have a medical condition that causes hand tremors(shaking). I always have to make special compensations when I shoot for this. Focusing is almost always a nightmare - so you can imagine how difficult these action shots are for me. I am just pleased that they came out at all. One compensation I make is to take MANY photos of the same thing - then choose the best ones. So for this 3 hour show I shot +/- 800 shots! Unfortunately all the image stabilization I have tried doesn't help much. ;(

I hope you enjoy the show as much as Christopher and I did.

Best experienced at original size! Check out the heat exhaust here!

Bill, no evidence of the malady in this shot--and I have the same problem! It certainly does frustrate me sometimes, but I have found my 'sweet spot' setting for my camera, with fast shutter speed, and rely upon my software to correct it. I take 95% of my photos with the current setting. You can also try moving your ISO setting up....to 400.

this one is even more difficult because the speed is higher going by in front of you. good shot!

and wildspirit is right, all shots that are directed at fast motion can only be done by high shutter speed. and if the light doesn't allow that do set the iso to the higher sensitivity.

yes, we are enjoyıng the aırshow wıth the beautıful shots you had taken .....
agree wıth junne and wıldspırıt , ın adıtıon to these you can also use mono pods, whıch are easy to manouvere for fast actıon shots and they mınımıze the shake to a great extend .......................... ;o)

thank you Aviator!!!

unfortunately I have a $60 mono pod gathering dust(need to sell on ebay) - it actually made the tremor worse!
