I remember when I had dialup - it was 9 years ago (well up to 9 years - it started 10 years before that).
we lived 24,500' from the phone switch. If we had lived 500 ' further away, they would have to have put in a repeater in.... to top it off, there was another switch about 1500' from us but they wouldn't change it to us - they said we didn't live in that service area!!
I was lucky to get 15k on my 56k modem.... now I get 2000k, and couldn't imagine going back.
33 was max speed i ever got ... but ... sometimes is 8 !!!!
and there is noting with the place i live ... it works like that everywhere ...
the problem is that out post won't to allow us ADSL ... just a very, very low % of users in my town got it ...
NO real reason ...
but you know, this way all the money get into their pocket .... not to providers ...
1536k ADSL would cost me exactly the same i pay for this crap ... :(
