Camera: SP-3000Flash: No Lazy Beds - the name given to the ridges you can see on the side of the hill. These ridges are where people tried to grow potatoes at the time of the Irish famine. They tried to grow the potatoes on hillsides and other places where normally they would not have been expected to grow. Of course, the Potato blight that caused the crop to fail, and thus cause the famine was already in the seed potatoes so these attempts of course, failed. The interesting, or even scary thing is, these "scars" on the hillsides won't go away! No matter how often the land owners and farmers till the ground, the ridges, or "lazy beds" still return. | |
