A famous pub in the Black Country, which is the name given to the industrial area of the West Midlands of England. A special area.

I've posted photos of this pub before, but we try to go there quite often............ so here it is again, when we visited it earlier this month. It really is very crooked, gives you a funny feeling when you're inside, especially when you try the marble trick. (You place a glass marble on the shelf expecting it to roll downhill, but because of the tilt, it appears to roll uphill!)

It's quite safe in there...............

Ah but do they serve a crooked pint?

They must have had a very bad spirit level - or perhaps they built it after a few ales :)

Oh, no there was no ale there before they built it ;o)

The trouble is there are lots of coal mines around this area, and this all happened through subsidence.

You can read all about it here: http://www.thecrooked-house.co.uk/ but much of it is written in Black Country dialect, so if you can't understand it you may have to guess.

It's a great place to visit, and as far as I know, perfectly safe, thanks to the brickwork added to the side.
