Taken 6/30/2013, From the beach below the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, on the North side of the Mouth of the Columbia River, one of the most dangerous in the World.

Thanks Annamaria, It is nicknamed the Graveyard of the Pacific, because of constantly changing sandbars, due to the volume of water and strength of the current. The US Coast Guard trains people for dangerous water rescues, and they even designed a boat that rights itself, because rollovers are common. Any ship heading up the Columbia River must have a Certified Columbia River trained pilot, before it is allowed to enter.
