Those are the Russian Bees. Unfortunately they were wiped out this spring. We still have the Italian Bees. They swarmed but the rest is doing great. What kind do you have and how many hives? We had only 2

I did have four colonies but one has recently died out.
Probably varoa.
As to type we call them Cornish blacks but they are probably a mongrel mixture of more than one breed.
I keep mine on mesh floors they don't overheat as much & the extra air keeps the hive drier in the winter.
Yes, it is difficult for bees to survive anymore. We lost one hive to the american foulbrood. Someone else had a hive not to far from us and left it for the predators. I think that's where the disease came from. We had to dispose of everything.
The other hive is thriving well. We too use the mesh. We treat our bees for mites.
