Pupupu Springs - One of the side pools and because of the angle of the sun ... the best view that day

Te Waikoropupu Springs also known as the Pupu Springs, it is the largest, clearest of New Zealand's freshwater springs. The basin containing the main spring is 42 metres across, and through a system of mirrors scientists have recorded the horizontal visibility at 62 metres (203 feet) a world record - the springs are considered to be the clearest fresh water in the world.

- The only place known to have greater clarity is under the Ross Sea Ice Shelf in Antarctica

- 14000 litres of water per second is discharged on average.

- The water stays underground between 2-10 years before being forced out.

Thanks for the notes Roger, even before I read them I could see how clear the water is. You captured lovely colours and reflections in this shot, it's a pleasure to view!

Thanks Meg - the main pool was a must see for scuba divers but they have preety much stopped that because of cultural issues and the fear that there may be a cross contamionation of invasive Didymo algae

Some improvements behind the scene to make the site run better .. forum topics are above.

There is still some fine tuning to be done. Bare with them :-))

so amazing all these colours of blue.

All my first pictures are mixed up, and the numbers of the pages don't make sence to me at all. sorry, it might be nessecery behind the scene, but i don't know anything abouth that, it makes it a bit hard to relate.
i hope i will get used to it. ;)
