What a brilliant blue sky Roger.
Devonport is also the area of docks in Plymouth that is the home of the navy - is this just co-incidence or is there a link?

I've had a quick look on the net and it appears it was the natural deep water anchoracge for naval ships and the similarity to England's Devonport gave its name.
Rainbow71 may have some info on this .. it was an old stomping ground for her, you can still see "Rainbow71 was here" etched into walls.

And yes it was a great sky, unaltered from camera. We thought summer was going to last forever. Things have changed a bit but it sounds like the next week will be continue the Indian Summer theme

Thanks Roger, LOL but I can't answer your Question. I remember the esplanade hotel before it became an up market place to go.
Use to be down there evey other weekend. Saw some good bands there.

Yes .. I used to visit a few times .. a fair bit of blues or jazz in afternoons, early evenings from memory
