The Waitangi Treaty Grounds, overlooking the Bay of Islands, is New Zealand's pre-eminent historic site.
It was here on February 6th, 1840, that the Treaty of Waitangi was first signed between Maori and the British Crown.
The flagstaff viewed from the meetinghouse (Te Whare Runanga ). The current NZ flag at the top flanked by the Union Jack and NZ's first flag (I think). The sky colour is unaltered (as always with my photos) I didn't notice the graduated blue colour at the time.
