Supposedly the centre of NZ ... apparently it is actually 55km south of this spot but it has always been known as the centre ... probably because it was the sight of the first Trig Station in the South Island
"Nelson received its name in honour of the 1st Viscount Nelson and Admiral of the fleet that defeated both the French and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Many of the roads and public areas around the city are named after people and ships associated with that battle and Trafalgar Street is the main shopping axis of the city. Inhabitants of Nelson are referred to as Nelsonians" thanks for sharing your views of Nelson....it sounds very interesting and your pictures are the next best thing to actually being there : )
