Bay of Islands - Waitangi Treaty Grounds
The Waitangi Treaty Grounds, overlooking the Bay of Islands, is New Zealand's pre-eminent historic site.
It was here on February 6th, 1840, that the Treaty of Waitangi was first signed between Maori and the British Crown.
The Maori Meetinghouse (Te Whare Runanga ) on the Waitangi Treaty Grounds is intricately carved, I could only get a view from the outside as there were about three tour groups queued to go though , but please have a look at the link

For a stunning inside view.
I didn't notice the security light and sprinkler at the time .. pity
