Bay of Islands - Russell - New Zealand's first European Settlement

Time to take a walk up Flagstaff Hill.

Dogs are the biggest danger to our national bird. Before the Europeans and their introduced species arrived it had no preditors as such and being flightless it is now struggling to survive.

I have read about this Roger - how the NZ wildlife is threatened by dogs, cats and rats. I'm glad they're doing something about it.

Yes Peter, there are some breeding programmes on isolated islands and some predator proof sanctuaries .. but still danger for Kiwi and a few other species in general areas
