‘Wishing to see is enough to believe that you are seeing...I believe in miracles when I hear an echo between me and what I see, a resonance, the memory of a memory already lost. Yes, the eye hears before it sees...’
Sarah Moon.
Mystery and intensity are at the core of Sarah Moon’s distinct style as she paints with the camera. Black and white is more about a feeling than an image. Her style reminds me of impressionism, as if she, the artist, captures the image of the subject as someone might see it through eyes with time slipping away. Her printing is dark and heavy and lends to an imminent feeling of fairytale darkness, beauty and tragedy. I am happy that I didn’t leave this book closed today and will revisit the volume again and again. | |
