I stayed a weekend on an island on the Persian Gulf called Kish. It is known as a playground for the rich. In the time of the last shah, there was a Concorde flying in directly from Paris. Lots of people go there for it´s avaibility of tax free electrical goods. But you can do some great ecological tourism! The water is so clear! You can see colorful fish around the coral reefs.
I never thought the Persian Gulf would look like this...
