Poolburn Dam ( reservoir ) Central Otago, NZ.
Completed in 1931 as a storage dam to irrigate the Ida Valley.
It is a popular recreational area and the dam is richly stocked with brown trout.

The dam and surrounding area was used extensively as the land of Rohan and the Rohirrim Village in the Lord of the Rings.
It was one of the producer Peter Jackson's favourite locations.
The fishing huts were camouflaged as farmhouses.
