Lake Taupo is the largest freshwater lake in New Zealand and the Southern Hemisphere.
It has a perimeter of 193 km , a surface area of 616 square km and at
it's deepest point it measures 186 metres.
It was created by a huge volcanic eruption thousands of years ago.
Lake Taupo offers some of the best Trout fishing in the world and many leisure and scenic opportunities.
