The female bird lays a single egg in the doomed nest of a Grey Warbler.
The young cuckoo, when hatched soon evicts any grey warbler chick or egg remaining in the nest.
It is then reared by the foster warbler parents and continues to be fed for several weeks.
Beautiful colors and magnificent details of this gorgeous exotic bird.. The tight crop does this photo justice...The composition is perfect.
Outstanding post.
Fascinating information - the same behaviour as the European Cuckoo. What is different is the beautiful green feathers.
Is this an example of one bird that became different due to isolation or convergent evolution, that is two separate bird species that evolved the same behaviour pattern separately I wonder?
Thank you Thor ... an interesting question of which I am unsure of the answer . I am inclined to think they are two different species but need to research this more :)
