We went to Anderson River Park in Anderson, CA this morning.

The great horned was out guarding the babe today. The baby is still covered in down and very well hidden. She and her mate did a good job of concealing this nest when they built it! Couldn't get a decent picture of the babe.

thanks, benny! doug has a fairly decent picture of the babe. I think that he's going to post it shortly. I was too short to get a shot over the bushes. :(

jon, isn't it fun when you see them in the wild? I've been told that there is a red-tailed hawk nest where I've been going but I've yet to spot it.
Out back, in doug and denise's park, the finches and sparrows are starting to bring their young and feeding them. We've been spending a lot of time in the backyard just watching. It's truly amazing.
