Penhros Engine House, Brymbo, North Wales
Built by the 18th century iron master John Wilkinson to pump water out of a coal mine, Penrhos is believed to be the oldest surviving colliery engine house in Wales. Today there are few remaining traces of the industry that occupied this landscape and the stone building has acquired a romantic air
