For all of you machinery nuts:- This Ruston 7HE was commissioned on 15 August 1929 at the Kempthorne Prosser Fertiliser Works at Burnside, Dunedin where it drove a 40 KVA generator. The engine is a 38 hp diesel, with starting air at 200 lb per square inch (1398 kPa). The base for the engine contains thirteen cubic metres of reinforced concrete. The crankshaft turns at 260 revolutions per minute. The perimeter of the flywheel travels at 45 mph (70 kph).
