In response to the news today of the mining tragedy on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. I wanted to post captures of some of the things I remember of the place, in happier times.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the miners.

I choose this capture to illustrate the volatility of the land on the West Coast.
The lines on this rock wall is of two fault lines, one pushing up and the other pushing down.

Thanks Hans. People do dangerous jobs all around the world and we, as human beings, are touched when tragedy strikes.
