Yes Anna, there are still gold mines in WA and other states of Australia and this mint still processes a lot of gold each year.

Thank you very much for all of your recent comments Hans; it is a great place and is on the heritage preservation list as a historical building. Daily tours are conducted and gold pouring demonstrations are held three times a day.
I will have to take this tour sometime soon.
