Littleollie's Fotothing

A Horticultural question. This plant grows in our garden, but I can't find what it is called. ( I know, I probably haven't looked very hard).
It has big Banana like leaves and these pods have grown recently and are now starting to open; that's if they don't rot very quickly and fall off.
Can you put an old man out of misery please.
