You have got to wonder what they eat; fortunately they looked like they are in good condition.
This capture was taken in the Perth Hills, Western Australia, in January 2014, about halfway through a 100 day-plus drought.

Sheeps are very clever to find food. I have seen a reporting of a transhumance shepherd in my country being sometimes in regions already covered with early snow. Sheeps did scrape it off until they found some grass, even frozen...

It does Marg. Not something you would be used to seeing in NZ, very common here in the dryer months and the stock are dry feed. There is a water trough in the bottom R/H corner of this paddock, so that wasn't an issue.
Lambing is in Autumn, which is different to most, if not, all of NZ too; it's the time of most plentiful natural feed.
