The Dwellingup Forest Train.
The historic Dwellingup Forest Train will take you 8 Kilometres eastward from Dwellingup to Etmilyn, along the state's last surviving lightly built developmental railway.
The official "First Train" was on the 17th August 1986 on the Dwellingup to Etmilyn line.
The Locomotive W920, named Pinjarra, (seen here), was purchased by Hotham Valley Railway in July 1976.
The ‘W’ Class Locomotive has 18 engines still existing today in five States of Australia and is actually one of the most preserved locomotives in the world with only a few U.K. locomotives preserved in greater numbers.
Built by Beyer Peacock and Company Ltd of Manchester, England.
The load over a 1 in 80 grade for these engines was 435 tons. Because of their versatile design it was not long before the W class were introduced to the passenger roster and performed admirably as passenger locomotives until the advent of diesel-electrics in Western Australia in 1954.
