This fully restored Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress, a WWII heavy bomber, made a visit to Georgetown, Texas last week. Named "Aluminum Overcast", this rare plane is owned by the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and was on a national tour offering flights (at $399 !! ) and free photo ops. The flight I could do without, but the photo op I couldn't miss.

We used to draw the entire schematic view of this and the B-24 Liberator and P-38 Lightnings while in grammar school...and as a member of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, Mississippi, knew many airmen--tailgunner on a -17 and a ball turret gunner on a -24. Gad, those guys took some heavy losses.
