Nice, I love a wooden floor.
when a was married, long ago ;-), we had a fine wooden floor."made" by ourselves.
Jul 12 2008 19:43 GMT Kaska
Thank you Elly. I love wooden floor too... that's why I'm removing all the laminat and exchanging it for the wood. It creates a mess and it's a lot of work, but in few weeks it will all look the way I like it :)
you mean "made" that you made the wood planks yourself or just installing it on your floors? that's what I'm doing right now too... I just don't like the preparation so much but putting it on the floor is great :) you see the result right away :)

O remącik...:)
a podłoga w obecnym stanie leżała w mieszkaniu jaki czas?? :)
Jul 12 2008 19:51 GMT Kaska
niedlugo... 2 tygodnie tylko :)
Jul 12 2008 19:54 GMT Offeath

this is going to be a different room once you are finished....it is going to have
a warm atmostphere....

i think you are brave to start a project so big, but the result will be worth it.. for sure..!
we have tiles in our house in Pretoria... I like wooden floors better....!
Jul 12 2008 20:13 GMT Offeath
no chyba, że tak ale jak jest drzewo za suche to trochę wilgoci i podłoga zaczyna mieć fale... sam się o tym przekonałem jak składałem w swoim pokoju:D
Jul 12 2008 20:17 GMT Kaska
Liz, thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I did start on much bigger project when I bought a house that was big enough for my liking but in a state that required loooots of work... and I thought then I could do it easily...
it's been more than 2 years and I'm far from being finished... but most of the time I'm happy with every completed job :)
This time is just the kitchen floor and the workshop... and then I'll again make my workspace the way I want :)
Jul 12 2008 20:18 GMT Kaska

Jul 12 2008 20:55 GMT Lubranco2008
What a great job....Bravo :)))

I have just moved on from carpet to a laminate floor and I love the marvelous wood grain design on it - its like a great abstract painting all under my feet - my next step is a real wooden floor :) - if ever I tire of my lovely laminate :)

Wowser, nice floor you are going to have (I like your mitre saw). Wish I was there to help you install this. My father was a carpenter, and I have always liked working with wood.
Jul 13 2008 05:23 GMT Kaska
ja teraz przybijam... kiedys robilam nieprzybijana als skrzypi a nie lubie :)
przybijana zostala
zobacze jak teraz pojdzie... teraz troche deszczu wiec wilgoci wiecej w drewnie a w zimie to przy centralnym troche sie rozstapi ale to deski wiec sie z tym licze...
Jul 13 2008 05:26 GMT Kaska
I love the smell when you cut the wood...
well... there is still a lot of work before it's finished... I would not refuse a good help offer :)
Jul 13 2008 07:41 GMT Elly
Kaska; yes, I meant installing. I made the preperations , a kind of preserve the wood and my ex-husband installed it. Rather a lot of work, but we loved the result. and now after about 20 years, it is still very nice.
Jul 13 2008 11:02 GMT hallo
Jack/jill of all trades :)))
Jul 13 2008 11:49 GMT will
Looks like you're planning to stay awhile Mirka! Putting down roots.
Jul 13 2008 14:17 GMT Kaska
Will, I don't know... I'm counting on another 3-4 years...by then my son will be finishing his school ... the road will be open again...
Jul 13 2008 15:03 GMT will
That's good thinking Mirka! You're still very young as far as I'm concerned and state of mind is everything too! I really think you're a born traveller and love the excitement of the road! But, it's wonderful that you are such a responsible and loving mother first! And good luck on your great projects there! I would add very 'ambitious' to my idea of you! :))
Jul 13 2008 15:56 GMT Kaska
:) I'm not sure if ambitious is the right word... rather lazy...;) ambitious would get me somewhere and my mum said to me not so long ago when I told her "whem I'm grownup and rich.." : "you'll never be rich (in money) ... you like life too much" :) I kind of liked that :)

It's going to be lovely when it's done. I love wood, but here in Spain we need the tiled floor to help keep the house cool.
Jul 13 2008 17:48 GMT will
Ok, ok....well, let's just say I'm glad it's your pile of wood there and not mine! (but, if you prodded me enough I might help you, maybe) lol )))
Jul 13 2008 18:59 GMT Kaska
ok, I'm prodding you :))))
Jul 13 2008 19:01 GMT Kaska
I love the tiled floor too... all natural floor coverings are nice.
The tiles would need change of the underfloor... and I'm afraid I'm not enough expert in doing that.
I like my kitchen now with the wood on the floor :) now to the workshop area... more than 2x the size...

wow...lots of work:)
but you'll love it when it is finished
Two years ago I ripped out all the wall to wall floorcovering and replaced it with hardwood.
We love it
