Irish Travellers pass along by our home

I took those pictures about 25 years ago with an old fixed lense Halina camera. I got a batch of old 35mm negatives scanned to CD to day, and some of them still look ok after all the years.

Great series, Joe. In Cashel in Tipperary there is a great little folk museum full of all sorts of treasures from years gone by. One such treasure is one of these caravans, which they told us was still in use as for a family with about 12 children as recently as the 1980s (I think). Apparently the children used to take it in turns to sleep underneath the van, which is tiny, no space inside.

Yes, Pam this is true, they are tiny little bunks in the caravan and they all squeeze in as best they can, others used to sleep under the caravan wrapped up in canvas.

Thank you FoggyDew, this was taken outside our home, the road is still the same.

Thank you Roger, I have several thousand old negatives, so I must get more of them scanned.
