Thank you Lucky, those boats are used for salmon fishing, two men in each boat, one paddling and one carrying a net between each boat. They drag the net along until they feel a salmon in the net. It is then beaten to death with a timber baton :(
This fishing has been stopped now due to a scarsity of salmon from too much deep sea fishing, there is no salmon going up the rivers to spawn anymore.
Lovely shot. I know what you mean about the scarcity. When I first came to Ireland 15 years ago I would see in the stores a whole wall of every kind of salmon you could think of. I was amazed. My last trip I saw NONE. I was equally amazed.
So true, and to think people do not like limits on their daily catch...
Limits are there to ensure that in the future fish will continue to be plentifull
a limit is better than NONE...that's for sure...
