The real Ireland - The May Bush

This is a picture of Richard Holden, Mooncoin who is one of several people in Mooncoin that erect a May Bush every year. The bush is decorated like a Xmas tree and was left up for the month of May. It is supposed to bring health and happiness to the family.

Goodluck to him.....Yes...we need a bit of that......
health.....happiness.........and good for him..... although it is hard work
to get both.......health and happiness.....happiness...we have to give happiness to receive it back....!!!
I get lots of happiness out of life.......my family....(husband and children) and
also I have worrries....why do we worry about things we cannot do a thing about... ...because that is life........
thank you for this photo...and the customs of Mooncoin.....!!!

I've never heard of that, thats interesting, we only ever had the May Pole over here..and that seems to have vanished now.
(I was always the one at school who skipped round the wrong way with the ribbon..(.coordination...still bad!)
