Soldier..thank you so very much....last year we didn't hardly see any of these species and this year they are everywhere....this morning we had sixteen in our garden at once....beautiful birds......
Heather...thank you so very much my dear friend....we just purchased a new lens for our cameras with the soul purpose of photographing the birds....some of our first photographs with the new lens...
Martini....thank you so very much my friend....we are treated with so many beautiful birds in our area....of course we encourage them all year with our feeders.....
I think they are worth the $$$ if this is the type of shot you can take. I am still working on "hubby" for an DSLR. I am still in the dark ages (so to speak) with just a plain Digital. I am drooling over the SlR's.....any hints???
Minou...thank you so very much...we are so thrilled to see the Blue Jay back this year...last year they were effected by a virus and we didn't see very many...they have made a marvelous recovery......
Senna...thank you so much my dear friend....I did sharpen this photograph with photoshop but the new lens is working out great if I can keep it still....I was so anxious to try the new lens that I didn't set up the tripod.....
Heather....Digital SLR cameras offer many advantages...most allow you to capture photographs in "raw format" or compressed "jpeg" format.....raw format allows you an opportunity to change many of the camera settings on the computer after the photograph has been taken.....all SLR's offer the ability to change lens and filters...automatic or manual settings.....we have always been partial to Canon SLR although my daughter likes Nikon. Most of the SLR's are coming down in price...Canon makes a good 10 megapixel camera Rebel XTi...the 18-55mm zoom lens with a circular polarizing filter...Nikon makes a D40 and D60 which are compatiable....Two very good online camera stores are B&H Video & Photographic in New York and www.penncamera.com from Maryland/Virginia. Both are very reputable and extremely helpful.
Glenn...thank you so very much....we spent our grandchildren's inheritance on a new lens which is fabulous...Linny and I are politely sharing it now but I can see conflict in the future over it's use....(laughing)....
Poulet..thank you so very much....the Blue Jay are actually a bit bigger than most of the wild birds that visit our feeders but they have a beautiful colour....we are seeing many more than last year.....
Tavascarow...thank you so very much....we purchased a new lens specifically to photograph the birds....I was even more impressed with the lens after I used it for the first time.....hopefully I'll get more familiar in the future.
Carla..thank you so very much.....we got a new lens and this is the first time I've used it.....it sure makes a difference....we bought it to photograph the birds.......
Glenn....thank you so very much...last year we had very few Blue Jays because of some virus....fortunately they seem to have recovered because we have seen more this spring...
Thank you very much Pat.....it was very nice to see the Blue Jay back...last year there was a virus that affected them and we didn't see very many...this year we have lots!!!
Spectacular shot Jake - the new lens was obviously worthwhile - You are very knowledgeable on camera use and processing (I am a complete novice on that side of things unfortunately) I have just bought a new camera (Canon EOS D40) but body only - hoping to get a couple of lens soon (so frustrating I can't use it!!!) I am still using my trusty Fuji S7000 (now only worth about £15 and battery case held together with shoelace) but it still manages to produce some good shots.
Ganet...it's quite obvious that your trusty Fuji S7000 is doing a spectacular job...your photographs are stunning....The Canon D40 is a super camera...it's the next model up from the one that I use....Canon D30...higher pixel count than mine....you will really enjoy the camera....there are many lens that fit the EF Canon mount....Canon of course, as well as Sigma & Tokina to name a few. I'm very partial to the Canon lens although I have a few Sigma lens that I hardly use....there are several general zoom lens 18-55 & 17-85 which are good. A good fixed lens is the 50mm f1.4...they also make a 50mm f1.2 but it doubles in price....hope that is helpful....let me know if I can be of more help.....
