From here to there.

Our basic route from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Los Angeles, California last week.

Hard to tell on this map, but a lot of it between Colorado and California was on two-lane back roads with side trips to see the scenes. That included a section of the original Route 66 in western Arizona that passes through Oatman. About 65 miles of excellent-for-Mustang GT-spirited-driving connected Oatman to the two ends between highways.

That was a long trip. I'd love to do it if I had a month or two to spare.

My big National Geographic wall map is getting more and more full of travel lines!

Yeah, a month would be great. As it was only a week, there wasn't enough time to fully explore any particular place.

As a motorhomer for 17 years, taking the backroads was part of the adventure of discovering America!! Great!

Backroads are definitely fun! Especially now with the GPS!

Londi, I still use a paper atlas and memory and seat of the pants. I like surprises more than I like planning every inch.

I agree! I also use paper atlas! (when needed) I collect maps and I'm travelling often in my mind.
