My research shows the only way to get rid of it is to have the lens disassembled and cleaned. Probably not worth it unless you can do it yourself. This particular problem appears to be a cracking of the lens coating, not fungus, but just as disheartening a problem.
It worse than that ~ the f-stop preview button was broken off, the lock-to-the-camera mechanism was broken, the camera was filthy... and the lovely seller packaged it all like a slob and even included some McDonalds dipping sauce in the package!
She advertised it as a fixed focal length lens when actually it was a zoom. Everything was wrong with the transaction. She was indignant when I filed a claim, saying her father took the best of care of his cameras and that I must be deceiving eBay and PayPal. Well, I had to pay for shipping to return it, but got my original shipping and purchase payment refunded.
