My dad says the annual lease on the cabin ~ they own the structure but lease the lot from the US Forest Service ~ has been more than doubled to almost $1k per year. I wonder what has changed, or what we can expect from our friends in government, to justify the steep increase.
I think my dad wants to transfer ownership to my sister and me, and while I would like the place to stay in the family, we only manage to go there once or twice a year. It's not that we don't want to go; there are so many things to do already.
Dad didn't buy the place till 2/3 of his kids had grown and moved out, and I can see why. It's pretty likely that he'd continue to help maintain the family cabin. They moved from here to near there a couple years ago since they like the area so much.
