Fotothing is pairing up with the Daily Express, a national newspaper in the UK, to celebrate St George’s Day this year on 23rd April. We would like to create a patriotic display of pictures capturing the best bits about England.

The Daily Express will select their favourites for a feature on St George’s Day to be published in the newspaper on 22nd April, the eve of the festival.

If you would like a chance to see your pictures immortalised in print, tag them ‘stgeorge’, with no spaces. All photos entered on or before 19th April 2006 will be considered by the Daily Express.

If you live in England, used to live in England, or indeed have been there on holiday, this is a great opportunity for you to show off your photography skills.

Whether it’s the London Eye, Stone Henge or the Yorkshire Dales, or perhaps a picture of an event or occasion which is typical of English culture, we all have our favourite English scenes so why not share them with us?

You can enter more than once, just make sure you tag each one you would like to be considered by the Daily Express.

Many thanks to Tanzle for letting us use her wonderful photo of London above. (See original here - http://www.fotothing.com/Tanzle/photo/7d2814afab1b3147df0601ca93023135/ )

Good Luck!

Well it looks like I'm out of the running... unless I can find some pictures from my trip to the UK over a decade ago...

I always scale down my photos before uploading them. Will that count against me, i.e. will the judges pictures of a higher resolution?

What rights does the Daily Express get with the photos? Single use? Unlimited worldwide? Something in between?

BosSelecta, if the Daily Express choose one of your photos we will ask you for the higher resolution image before it is printed!

Bushcat, the Daily Express will only publish the chosen pictures once. This will be within the feature article on April 22nd.

Suppose it does single a lot out world wide, but I think its because its a UK paper using Fotothing to promote St Georges which we don't celebrate enough here.

Shame that some of the pics in the fotothing feature did not come from this competition :-(

Any chance of someone posting links to the winning photos for those of us not in the UK?

Great! But more than 24 hours have passed, and the paper was printed 5 days ago. Any closer to publishing those links? 8-)
