I talked to fotolog's cypher and heif at the San Francisco meetup last night, and they mentioned they were going to "open up the API". Now I don't have much confidence at the moment about any technical improvements coming out of these folks, but the idea is worth thinking about. What would you do along those lines?
Dom, if I were you I'd stick to what you're doing. The site is fast and efficient and you don't need to open up anything to anyone. It's your code, representing your work and you should get the benefit from it. Let it stand on it's own merits - people who want to use it will come here to do so. It's already far and away better than Flog.
Sure, there are a few things you could add to make it even better - like the "challenge" entries mentioned above but these are the icing on the cake. Just sit and watch it grow now - hope it makes you loads of income!
Yes Dom, I have the same opinion about your site: it's really nice, speed and handling are excellent, the layout is very clear and it is fun to use it and to be here!!!
Thanks a lot for this work.
i love this interface btw
i am a long time/extremely active flogger (under other names as well)
and so far this is the only other place i feel comfortable
(i also keep 2 daily journals on fotola but that has always been a slightly different experience)
i have given other photoblogs a try since the flog failures intensified but am not happy with them...
there is one feature that both fotola & flickr have that is nice; the ability to make images private
anyway, i find this clean, quick & visually pleasing
so congrats
:)
