Fotothing is going up in the world!

We've just moved to a brand new dedicated server, which should mean that the site is quicker, and your photos are higher quality.

In case of teething troubles, please press the emergency stop button marked 'Contact Us' on the left. :)

Cool.. Did you get the new server at the Mall? :)

It looks like you're not putting width=x height=x attributes on the main image, only on the thumbnails. You should probably put them on the main image too, otherwise there's noticable flicker when the page displays.

If you need it, I have a C routine that returns the width and height of a JPEG.

BTW--What are the image dimension limits anyway? That way I can constrain the images before I upload (saving me time with this slow dial-up).

Hey I just saw on my image the image data (camera type/date picture taken etc.) tags pop up under the "uploaded" date. Is that new?

Another idea... can the comments be threaded? Like on livejournal the comments that reply to a certain post indents to the right and continue in a heirarchy down and right as there are further replies. This way a person can follow what comment is in reply to another certain comment. You probably know what I mean.

Something else to put on the to-do list for when this site becomes monstrously popular: an abuse-flagging system like craigslist has.

Also, it might be nice to store a hash for each image as displayed, and compare that to the hash for each later image as uploaded. This is to detect and flag possible image theft.

Today I discovered your site and love it. Hope you get more members soon but not too fast ;-)

Glad to know we are thinking on the same wavelength!

I don't really like indented comment systems, and actually I was going to mention the ambiguity we already have here with the Reply link on each individual comment versus the Add A Comment textfield at the bottom. I guess if someone uses the Reply link then it shows up on the My Comments page as a reply, but if they use the general Add A Comment field then it does not? Well, I bet most people use the Add A Comment field, so the My Comments page isn't going to work so well.

Yup at the moment the reply works more to figure out if someone's replied to your comment from the "my comments" page.

Maybe instead of an "indent comment" format the "from/date" bar could change color.

I like what you've been doing with the technical data, including the newest reveal/hide.

Hmm, my uploads don't have EXIF data because I have to resize them before uploading to get under the 1 MB limit, and my resize program doesn't preserve EXIF.

What do you think about raising the upload limit to 2 MB, just for me? :-)

hmmm.. for some reason my last pic - which should have shown technical data - does not. I guess you're still working on it. :)

The link to the Terms & Conditions doesn't work ;-)

It would be a good idea to have everyone agree to those before they can sign up.
