Can anyone tell me what kind of bird this is?

I now know it's a redwing (thanks Tony!)

Thanks very much, Tony! I did initially think this could be a redwing, but the one in my bird book looked a bit different. There were quite a few in West Bridgford park today.

Sylvia, it looks very similar to the our 'Robin'........which is in the "thrush" family of birds. Mostly eat bugs and earthworms.

Thank you all!
Yes, Joe, and they were hanging out near a flock of fieldfare in the park. Now the weather has turned a bit warmer, they all seem to have disappeared.
