Once one of the great literary pubs of London, the framed photos on the walls depict the pub's past and show several of its former denizens - in fact the great Tommy Cooper was one of several famous people who once counted the Fitzroy as their local; they include: Albert Pierrepoint (the hangman), George Orwell, Michael Bentine, George Bernard Shaw, Richard Attenborough, Walter Sickert and Coco The Clown.
Dylan Thomas in The Fitzroy tavern. It was here that a drunken Dylan Thomas would give away poetry written on beer mats to any pretty woman who asked.
Magician Aleister Crowley created The Kubla Khan No 2 cocktail here: gin, vermouth and laudanum!
Welsh writer artist and model Nina Hamnett was also a regular in her later years stumping up anecdotes for the price of a drink.
This famous literary pub gave its name to the Fitzrovia area.
