Later the same day a hazel grouse sat in a tree near our cabin so I took pictures of it through the window. It was snowing a lot, I think you can see it in the background. so the photo quality is not so good.
Larry, thank you for the comment. Yes, I agree with you, its wonderful when birds and animals comes close enough to be seen. Last weekend I watched many other birds, among them black grouse and capercaillies. I also watched a moose and a big beautiful fox walking near our cabin. Just waiting for a bear in sight, lol, they have woke up now after their long wintersleep, but I dont want to meet them all alone, eye to eye, out in the forest, lol.

I find when the light is poor birds are more adventurous & come nearer.
I have godfinches which feed in my garden on dandelions right outside my door, but only when it rains & no sun.
