We have many lovely names for this Arum Lily.. Priest in the pulpit Jack-in-the-Pulpit, Parson-in-the-Pulpit, Lord-and-Lady, Cuckoopint, Aronskelk , Indian Turnip, Iroquois breadroot, Starchwort, Memory root, Bog onion, American arum, Devil's ear, Pepper turnip, Dragonroot, Wake robin, Cooter-Wampee, Plant-of-Peace, Cobra lily, They grow wild in our woodland at this time of year and in SAutumn have the most glorious red berries...
I think the last time we went to Canada we visited Burnaby park, where there were lots of JapaneseTotem poles and it overlooked the river..so very beautiful..

I live very close to the park you visited. Burnaby Mountain Park has that beautiful view over downtown Vancouver. This lake is down at the base of the mountain to the south. I'm glad you came over to visit!

Yes our Arum maculatum mainly has a has a dark spadix.... although sometimes they are pale green
