Long Billed Dowitchers

Burnaby Lake, Burnaby BC, Canada

At rest, these shorebirds tuck their long beek into their plumage and stand on one foot (flamingo-like). They have returned to the lake after their summer absence, having been up north. Most will continue south but some may stay the winter here.
